Originally built in 1966 under the direction of local Swiss master carpenter P. Wyler-von Siebenthal, Hotel Wildbach embodies the authentic craftsmanship of the Bernese Oberland chalet tradition. Exposed timber, handcrafted wooden details, and warm natural materials preserve the timeless character of classic Swiss lakeside hospitality.

Thoughtfully renovated in 2023, the hotel combines timeless Alpine character with contemporary comfort — creating an intimate and welcoming experience for modern travelers.

The story of Hotel Wildbach is deeply connected to the early history of tourism on Lake Brienz. In the early 19th century, travelers from across Europe journeyed to Brienz to experience the beauty of the lake and the Bernese Alps.
Among the most famous figures of this era was Elisabetha Grossmann, the legendary "beautiful boatwoman of Lake Brienz," whose story became part of Swiss tourism folklore and attracted visitors from around the world.
The shores surrounding today's Hotel Wildbach were once an important landing point for historic lake steamships traveling between Brienz and the iconic Giessbach. Over generations, the lakeside became a meeting place for travelers, artists, and explorers drawn by the extraordinary scenery of the Bernese Oberland.
